Westman Communications Group (WCG) hosted a charity barbecue event in the town of Swan River on May 30th, 2023, with all the proceeds going to the Swan Valley Animal Protection League (SVAPL). After a matched donation from WCG, the event amassed a total of $5,111.

WCG served hotdogs and smokies from the local Co-op grocery store parking lot in Swan River. The event ran from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There were no set prices for the BBQ, as residents were asked to donate whatever they liked. Thanks to the generous support of the community, local participants donated a total of $2,555.50 which was then matched by WCG to bring the total donation to $5,111.

“We just built a new shelter back in June of 2022. Now we’re going to be working on landscaping,” explains Stephanie Wigley, President of the SVAPL. “We’re going to be putting out our dog runs. [Since] we just got a catio put in, [the funds are] going to be to going out to get the dog runs [and] the kennels ready so we can start housing dogs, not just cats, at our local shelter.”

“WCG is proud of the continued success of the Connecting Westman Tour,” says Westman Communications Group Marketing Manager Brandi Crowe. “Putting on these charity events allows us to raise funds for causes that are important to our communities and meet the people we serve. Experiencing the generosity of Swan Valley residents first-hand was fantastic, and we can’t wait to meet even more communities this summer.”
