Executive Management

Bud is the (Interim) President and CEO. Previously he was the Senior Director, Commercial Market Development, which included responsibility for business sales and the Westman owned radio stations – Q Country and Star FM. Prior to joining Westman in 2012.  Bud held senior sales leader and technology roles with Allstream/ AT&T Canada and Bell (Northwestel) as part of a telecommunications career that spans nearly 35 years. He has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Simon Fraser and is currently the Vice-President of the Coalition of Manitoba Internet Service Providers (C-MISP).

Kim Magalhaes is a Certified General Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Laurentian University. Kim is responsible for the overall financial management of the business, including shareholder services, financial, accounting, tax, and auditing activities. She is also responsible for the strategic evaluation of current and future business ventures and oversees the organization’s ongoing business process improvement. Before joining Westman in 2021, Kim held various leadership roles in the Agriculture and Natural Gas trading industries. Most recently, she was the Controller for a Canadian food distribution company.

John is responsible for Customer Care, Westman Business, Community Programming, Marketing and Sales. He has a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) and a Master of Business Administration (Marketing) from the University of Western Ontario. His career started in the natural resources industry and then shifted to the telecommunications industry for the past 15 years. John has worked for several of the country’s largest telecommunication providers and has experience in wireless, Internet, video and telephone.


Dean is responsible for network services, engineering, construction, deployment inside and outside the plant, and commercial customer support. He oversees the planning, engineering, construction and operation of the Westman Communications Group network to ensure members have reliable Internet, Digital HD TV, and Voice services.

Dean holds a diploma in Electronics from Assiniboine Community College and several industry certifications in advanced networking. Outside of work, you can find Dean running or travelling!
