The WCG Board of Directors ensure that our cooperative stays member-operated. Democratically elected by members, directors collectively decide on the trajectory of WCG. Our Board of Directors come from all over the Westman region, bringing local expertise to our mission.
Board of Directors

Mike Csversko
Chair
Mike Csversko has served on the Westman Communications Group Board for five years, most recently as Chair. With a Bachelor of Commerce and multiple governance designations—including ICD.D and Canadian Credit Union Accredited Director—Mike brings strong leadership and strategic insight. He is the Brand & Business Development Manager at Fusion Credit Union and serves on several boards, including the Co-operators Group Ltd. A former Tim Hortons franchisee and national board representative, Mike is passionate about WCG’s continued evolution and community impact.

Dan Robertson
1st Vice Chair
Dan Robertson is a lifelong Brandon resident with deep roots in western Manitoba. He holds a business degree from Brandon University and is a Certified General Accountant. Dan has held key roles at Westman Communications Group and the Keystone Centre, where he served as General Manager and led major projects like the Agricultural Centre of Excellence and the 2010 Mastercard Memorial Cup renovations. After retiring from the Workers' Compensation Board, he returned to the Keystone Centre as Interim Director of Finance. Dan is also an active community volunteer, currently serving as Chair of the Riverbank Discovery Centre.

Susan Brechmann
2nd Vice Chair
Susan Brechmann is a long-time Westman Communications Group member and former Board Chair, having led the organization through its first virtual AGM in 2020. A Brandon native, she brings valuable experience and a strong commitment to the cooperative’s mission. Now semi-retired, Susan works with the Canadian Red Cross, delivering injury prevention and violence risk reduction programs across Manitoba. She and her husband raised two children and enjoy having their grandchildren nearby.

Gail Janz
Secretary
Gail Janz has served on the Westman Communications Group Board for over 20 years, holding executive roles including Vice Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary. She brings extensive governance experience and actively contributes to board committees, most recently Board Development. A lifelong Brandon resident, Gail retired in 2020 after years of volunteering with local non-profits and serving as a billet parent for the Brandon Wheat Kings. She remains committed to advancing equitable services and supporting WCG’s growth across all communities it serves.

Lorne Zacharias
Treasurer
Lorne Zacharias is a recently retired Retail Co-op Manager with over 30 years of experience working with cooperative boards. He brings a strong background in co-op governance and remains active in volunteer roles. Lorne has served on the Westman Communications Group Board for approximately five years and is a passionate advocate for the cooperative model. He and his wife Colleen currently reside in Elm Creek, having also lived in Boissevain and Minnedosa.

Dave Mahoney
Board Member
Dave Mahoney is a long-time Westman Communications Group member and experienced Board Director, including multiple terms as Chair. He is committed to strong cooperative governance, future-focused investment, and community connection. A lifelong Brandon resident, Dave is retired from a senior management role with the Manitoba Government’s Central Services Division. He brings valuable leadership and operational insight to the Board. Dave and his wife Janice have two children and four grandchildren.

Chris Sobchuk
Board Member
Chris Sobchuk has been a lifelong Brandon resident and Westman Communications Group member for over 30 years. As a local business owner with experience in technology and community service, he brings valuable insight to the Board. During his first 2.5 years as a Director, Chris has contributed meaningfully during a time of growth and expansion. His strong connection to the community and commitment to cooperative values make him a dedicated advocate for WCG’s continued success.

Mike Brolund
Board Member
Mike Brolund retired in 2022 after a 37-year career in the banking industry, including 23 years in Brandon. Originally from Moosomin, Saskatchewan, he has lived and worked in communities across the province, gaining deep financial and business expertise. Mike has served on numerous boards, including Chambers of Commerce, service clubs, and local sports organizations. A lifelong co-op member, he is committed to strengthening Westman Communications Group’s reliability, competitiveness, and community impact.

Terry McLenehan
Board Member
Terry McLenehan is a lifelong Southwest Manitoba resident, originally from Melita and now based in Minnedosa. With 28 years in the Credit Union system, he currently serves as Branch Manager at Sunrise Credit Union. A graduate of Assiniboine Community College, he also holds an Associate Designation with Honours from Dalhousie University. Terry actively volunteers on several boards, including Minnedosa Minor Baseball, the Minnedosa Foundation, and CUMAM. A Westman member for over 30 years, he’s committed to supporting the communities he calls home.

Savaughn Peddle-Hastings
Board Member
Savaughn Peddle-Hastings is a long-time resident of Souris, Manitoba, with a strong appreciation for both rural and urban life in the Westman Region. His background in customer service and understanding of digital connectivity’s importance in rural communities drive his commitment to supporting Westman Communications Group. Savaughn is dedicated to working collaboratively with the board to help grow the cooperative and serve its members effectively.

Commitment Expectations
We value your time and expertise. Our board meets regularly, with a typical time commitment of several hours per month. Additionally, board members are encouraged to participate in committee work to support our mission and goals further.
Board Development Sessions
To ensure our board members are equipped with the latest skills and knowledge, we offer development sessions covering various topics applicable to effective governance and leadership.

Community Engagement Opportunities

Understanding that our potential directors may reside outside of Brandon, we offer remote participation options to accommodate varying geographic locations and busy schedules.
