Westman Communications Group (WCG) hosted a charity barbecue in Onanole on June 22, 2023. All the proceeds went to the Onanole Elementary School Parent Group, a cause chosen by the residents of Onanole. After a matched donation from WCG, the event amassed a total of $2,000.

WCG served hotdogs and smokies from the local Home Hardware parking lot in Onanole. The event ran from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There were no set prices for the BBQ, as residents were asked to donate whatever they wanted. Thanks to the generous support of the community, participants donated a total of $1,000, which WCG then matched to bring the total donation to $2,000. After the event, WCG presented the proceeds at the Onanole Elementary School during their Celebration of Learning event.

“We appreciate it so much,” says Alison Hay of the Onanole Elementary School Parent Group. “The donation will enable us to enhance school programming and activities, as well as fostering student, teacher, and community engagement in the school.”

“WCG is proud of the continued success of the Connecting Westman Tour,” says WCG Marketing Manager Brandi Crowe. “Hosting these charity events allows us to raise funds for important causes in our communities and meet the wonderful people we serve. Our experience with the residents of Onanole was fantastic, as was the gratitude from the students, teachers, and parents from the Onanole Elementary School. We can’t wait to continue our summer tour and meet more of our communities.”
