What is Chromecast and How Does it Work?

Learn how to cast content that you love from your favourite device straight to your TV!

Have you heard about Chromecast? No, it's not a new online trend you haven't heard about... It's fantastic new technology! Chromecast allows you to wirelessly connect your phone, tablet, laptop, and other compatible devices to the TV. With Chromecast, you can see what's on your device's screen, directly projected onto your TV!

But don't stop reading just yet. There is so much more to know about Chromecast.

What is Chromecast built-in?

Chromecast is a device designed by Google that you can plug into your TV to add smart functions. However, some devices, including InfiniTV, have a Chromecast built-in feature that eliminates the hassle of plugging in multiple devices. Instead, you can have all of it in one place. Chromecast built-in works over Wi-Fi to let you 'cast' or 'mirror' content such as streaming services, movies, TV shows, music, photos and more from your phone, tablet or computer to compatible TVs. In a nutshell, with this feature, you get to see exactly what's on your device but bigger on your TV!

Why would I want to use Chromecast?

Chromecast allows you to share your screen. Instead of passing your phone around to show friends or family videos, music, photos, shows, etc., you can click a button to connect your phone to the TV for everyone to enjoy! You can also cast entire sites or tabs from the Chrome browser on Windows computers, Macs, and Chromebooks.

How does it work?

Apps We Love to Cast

One of the amazing features available with InfiniTV is Chromecast. Having Chromecast built-in lets you easily cast and control your InfiniTV with apps you already know and love from your phone, tablet, laptop, or Chromebook.

Have you heard of Stack TV? If you’re a Westman TV subscriber, the Global Go app is the same app with all the same content. Food Network, HGTV, Slice, & more all in one app. Search for a show on your phone, cast to your TV! The secret’s out...I’m a big Real Housewives franchise fan and get all the seasons here. - Courtney; Manager, Marketing

The apps are a great option to have when you live in a house as full as mine! I love InfiniTV and Crave to go to for all the live and on-demand content. My wife loves the freedom of InfiniTV’s recordings and endlessly streams the Global GO and CTV GO apps for all her latest shows. The kids, however, love Disney +! – Lucas, Manager, Customer Service Delivery

Casting is the One thing I like to do on my InfiniTV. Casting my Laptop screen to the tv saves the hassle of using an HDMI! I love to cast and stream the Global GO app, Disney + & CTV for additional content on there! – Kayla, Customer Service Administrator
