WCGtv works hard supporting local communities and sharing their stories. That hard work has officially paid off and was recognized by a national award. WCGtv was selected as one of the winners of the Best Content: Community Channel Programming category for the 2021 Tuned-In Canada Awards.

WCGtv provides numerous top-quality programs, but one stood out above them all, their TV show that premiered back in July of 2020 - My Story. Everyone has a story to tell, and My Story gives people the opportunity and platform to do just that. These stories range from the background of businesses, immigration to the community, hobbies and more!

"We are really appreciative of this award. Shuo Cao and Myrem Phillips work very hard to get our My Story segments together, and this recognition is well deserved," said Vern Riddle, Team Lead of WCGtv Community Programming. "It takes a significant amount of time to put together a 30-minute show. A lot of extra footage to get the right shots and editing hours to make a story. Our department is very fortunate to have the depth of talent, both in staff and volunteers, that we do."

My Story had the 'highest score received by the judging panel and was awarded $1,000 to be donated to their local charity of choice, which is the Samaritan House Ministries Inc., located in Brandon, MB.

"During these difficult pandemic times, we too have felt the impact with the lack of events to record," explained Riddle. "So, it has been a nice opportunity to showcase local businesses and people who make Brandon a truly unique place."

If you are a Westman Communications Group member, you can view past My Story episodes at wcgtv.ca. For information on creating your own show or volunteering, call 204.717.2611 or email wcgtv@westmancom.com.
