Westman Communications Group (WCG) hosted a charity barbecue event in the town of Melita on July 20th, 2023. All the proceeds went to the Melita Central Park Project, a cause chosen by the residents of Melita. After a matched donation from WCG, the event amassed a total of $2,628.
WCG served hotdogs and smokies from Melita’s Central Park. The event ran from 11:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. There were no set prices for the BBQ, as residents were asked to donate whatever they liked. Thanks to the generous support of the community, participants donated a total of $1,314 which was then matched by WCG to bring the total donation to $2,628. After the event, WCG presented the proceeds to the Melita Central Park Project’s manager, Camiel Serruys.
“The Central Park Project was created by the Town to bring life back into the park,” said Serruys. “Every community needs arts, culture, diversity, recreation, and (by) having a fun, clean, safe, and healthy park we can offer that to all citizens. We’ve received a few grants, and organizations like Westman Communications Group who put on events such as this are greatly appreciated and support the beautiful project right here in Central Park, Manitoba.”
“WCG is proud of the continued success of the Connecting Westman Tour,” says WCG Marketing Manager Brandi Crowe. “Hosting these charity events allows us to raise funds for causes that are important to our communities and meet the wonderful people we serve. Our experience with the residents of Melita was fantastic, and we were glad to see firsthand how important Melita’s Central Park is to the town. We can’t wait to continue our tour this summer and to meet more of our communities.”
The Connecting Westman Tour will continue with a stop in Carberry on July 27th, followed by the final stop for the summer in St. Claude on August 24th.
