Westman Communications Group Launches Multi Gig Internet Speeds

Westman Communications Group (WCG), a local, member-owned cooperative providing premium telecommunication services to communities across the province of Manitoba, has launched multi-gig internet speeds in 14 communities. As of February 18, 2025, the cooperative introduced Connect 2.5 GIG, allowing download speeds up to 2.5 gigabits-per-second (Gbps). 

“We’ve seen an increased demand for multi-gig speeds across the communities we serve,” said WCG Senior Director of Sales and Market Development Derek Radics. “With Connect 2.5 GIG, we’ve upgraded our highest internet speed offering by 150% to ensure our members receive future-proofed services.” 

Over the past year, WCG has made tremendous investments in infrastructure upgrades and is excited to usher in a new era of internet to bring faster speeds to its customers. Residents of Austin, Boissevain, Crystal City, Cypress River, Elm Creek, Holland, Notre Dame, Pilot Mound, Rapid City, Rathwell, Somerset, St. Claude, St. Leon, and Swan Lake can now upgrade to Connect 2.5 GIG. WCG will continue to expand 2.5 GIG capability to more communities in the coming months to allow for increased connectivity across rural areas.
